40 days of prayer

We invite you to join us for a 40-day time of special prayer asking God for His special help to increase our space availability for ministering to the children of our area. We believe God has led us to this great opportunity, and we also believe that without HIM working in us and through us this will not succeed. Our key verse for this prayer effort comes from The Bible’s prayer book, “Psalms”.

Day 1, October 11 – Dear Lord, thank You for what You are doing at Gateway Church! Your Spirit is moving within our body of believers. Please, oh God, give us Your vision for teaching and training our children in Your ways.

Day 2, October 12 – Hello, Lord! Today I pray for the building project at our church. I ask that You would lead & provide for us in the ways You want us to go. Thank You!

Day 3, October 13 – Dear Father, how we love You! And Lord, we know how much You love our children – those already at Gateway and those of our community who don’t yet know You. Please show us the path You want us to follow in training our children in the way they should go, that they may ask You into their hearts & follow You all their lives.

Day 4, October 14 – Dear Lord, show us Your ways that we might walk in them. Show us Your will for Gateway Church and how we can minister to more children than we are now doing. Thank You, oh God.

Day 5, October 15 – Our eyes are on You, oh God. Only You can help us as we seek to find a way to teach more children in Your ways. You are sovereign, Your ways are perfect. We ask for Your plan for Gateway Children’s Ministries.

Day 6, October 16  --  Thank You, dear Jesus, for coming into the world and saving us from our sins.  You have placed a desire in us to grow as a church by expanding our walls, up and outwards.  Oh God, our desire is to serve more children and their families here at Gateway.  Show us the way, Lord.

Day 7, October 17  --  Dear Lord God, we pray for those families that have not yet come to Gateway Church, those parents who need a place for their children to stay while mom and dad are working.  Bless them, oh God, and help us to see the way You want us to make a place for them here at Gateway.

Day 8, October 18  --  We give thanks to You, Oh Wonderful Lord, for all Your benefits for us here at Gateway Church.  Our ears are open to hear Your Voice.  Please bless our children's ministry.

Day 9, October 19  --  We thank You, oh God our Master, for sending the families to this church with young children. Your children, Lord. Our desire is to teach them Your ways, and bring them, through Jesus, into Your kingdom.

Day 10, October 20  --  Lord God, we want to expand the walls of this church building, to make more room for the children to come to You, to EduCare, to GCM.  We are running out of room, dear Lord.  Please show us the direction we are to go.

Day 11, October 21  --  "Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening."  (1 Samuel 3:10)  Please show us the path forward for this church family as we move into a greater ability to provide Christian education to our children and young people.

Day 12, October 22  --  Thank You, oh God, for all the wonderful volunteers at Gateway Church who are working every Sunday morning to teach our children and bring them to Christ. Bless them greatly, dear Father.

Day 13, October 23 -- "Do you hear what these children are saying?" they asked Him. "Yes," replied Jesus, "Have you never read, 'From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise.'?" (Matthew 21:16) Dear Lord Jesus, we ask today that You would open up space here at Gateway Church that more and more children can shout out praises to You!

Day 14, October 24 -- Dear Heavenly Father, You and You alone are Mighty! You are Holy! You see all that is going on here at Gateway Church. We humble ourselves before You, knowing that only You can build up this body of believers, only You can show us the plans to reach out into our community and bring in a harvest of little ones.

Day 15, October 25 -- Lord Jesus, we lift up to You Your servants Kendra and Stephanie and their teams this day. Please give them an overflowing anointing from Your throne of grace. They are pressing forward into You with all their might to bring more and more children into Your kingdom. Prepare them, Holy Spirit, as You move this church forward.

Day 16, October 26 -- "God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19) Father, we pray that you would help us to trust You to meet all of our needs, in our families and at Gateway Church. Thank You for the richness of knowing and being loved by Jesus, our Lord and King.

Day 17, October 27 -- We come to You today, dear Lord, asking for Your great wisdom to settle upon our pastoral team, elders, and deacons as they seek Your pathway for our church. Our desire is for Your will to be done at Gateway, as we wait to hear Your Voice concerning enlarging our facilities to meet the needs of the many children You are sending us.

Day 18, October 28 -- Dear God, open us up to what You have for us in this new season of reaching more children for Christ. We want to be where You want us to be. We want to do what You want us to do. We thank You, in Jesus Name.

Day 19, October 29 -- You are so good to us, Lord God! You are so kind and compassionate! Your grace and Your mercy come to us every day of our lives. We want the children to know You and all Your attributes, how much You love them, and what a joy it is to serve and worship You! Help us to open our doors wider at Gateway to receive all the little ones You send to us. Thank You, Lord.

Day 20, October 30 -- "He took a little child whom He placed among them. Taking the child in His arms, He said to them, 'Whoever welcomes one of these little children in My name welcomes Me; and whoever welcomes Me does not welcome Me but The One Who sent Me.'" (Mark 9:36-37) Lord Jesus, help us love Your children and welcome them at Gateway. Please continue to show us how to enlarge our space here that we may welcome more in Your Name.

Day 21, October 31 -- Dearest Lord Jesus, today we bring You an offering of our hearts and our praise. You are so deserving, precious Lord, of all that we are, all that we have. Prepare our hearts and minds as we seek Your kingdom through our work at Gateway Church. Help us reach the children.

Day 22, November 1 -- Thank You, Heavenly Father, for all that You are doing here at Gateway Church. Thank You for our pastors, for all the ministry leaders and teams, for the small group leaders, and for our support staff. May we never take for granted Your many blessings that You pour over & through us every day.

Day 23, November 2 -- Father God, we trust You, and we humbly bow our heads and ask for Your leadership and guidance in this area of expansion of our walls and space. We want to know Your mind and follow Your heart, dear God, for the children. Please show us the way.

Day 24, November 3 -- "Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?" (John 6:9) Lord God, in the way that only You can, please multiply our efforts to make more of a difference for You here in our community than we could ever imagine on our own! We thank You, Lord.

Day 25, November 4 -- Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for moving in our church through Your Spirit. We thank You for speaking in our hearts and minds with Your Voice. Lord, we are listening, we are reaching up to You, we are asking for Your help. Please give great discernment to our elders, deacons, leadership staff, and all others who make Gateway’s financial decisions for wisely using our tithes, offerings, and additional giving for adding space for our children.

Day 26, November 5 -- "You are mighty, powerful, sovereign over all; yes You are holy, living God, Ruler of the earth; and You are worthy, Lord of all, everything I have is Yours." (used with permission of S. Schaap) Lord Jesus, help us to prepare our hearts and minds to offer everything we have to You - our time, our talents, and our gifts. (Exodus 25:1-2)

Day 27, November 6 -- "People were bringing little children to Jesus for Him to place His hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, He was indignant. He said to them, 'Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.'" (Mark 10:13-14) Show us Your plan for bringing the children to You through Gateway Children's Ministry and EduCare. Thank You, Lord.

Day 28, November 7 -- Dear Heavenly Father, please give us strength today to continue to press into You that we may not grow weary and lose hope. You have all the answers, oh Lord, even though we do not. We humble ourselves before You, quiet ourselves with You, and seek to hear Your Voice. Please show us Your plan for this church.

Day 29, November 8 -- We lift up Your glorious Name today, Emanuel, "God With Us." We are not alone, You are with us every day, every minute. Help us to still our minds and focus on You right now, for it is in quietness and trust that we will hear Your Voice. We need Your guidance for our church, the direction we are to take to open our doors to the children.

Day 30, November 9 -- "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you." (Jeremiah 29:11-12) Lord God, we pray to You today that You would show us Your plans for the future of Gateway Church and our children's ministries. Thank You, dear Lord.

Day 31, November 10 -- You are beautiful, oh Lord God, and all Your works are magnificent! We stand in awe of all that You do here at Gateway. Please help us to wait on You, to listen to Your Voice, to follow Your plans for Your children and this church.

Day 32, November 11 -- " You ought to say, 'If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that.'" (James 4:15) Dear Lord God, we want what You want for this church, to open more doors for the children so that we might have the opportunity to bring more of Your children to Your Son, Jesus. Help us to find Your will for this church. Help me to know Your will for my life.

Day 33, November 12 -- Nothing is haphazard, nothing is coincidental in Your Plan, Lord Jesus. Nothing You do happens by chance. Dearest God, please help us to keep our eyes on You as we all do our part to move closer to Your Plan to open our doors to more children in GCM and EduCare. Thank You, Lord.

Day 34, November 13 -- Dear Lord Jesus, I praise and thank You for this time to come before You. I thank You that You love me and hear me when I call out to You. Our building plans are in Your hands. We cannot move forward to enlarge this church without You. Help us, oh Lord.

Day 35, November 14 -- Dear Heavenly Father, You are everything we want, everything we need, everything that makes any sense in this world. We lift up to You the children, dear Jesus, Your children, and their parents who do not yet know You. Please make a way that we can lead them to You through our children's ministries. Show us how to open the doors. Thank You, Lord.

Day 36, November 15 --"Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.... Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, His good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:1-2) Lord, today we pray that You would help us see things differently, see things Your way; and that we would live differently in this world. Transform our priorities, and show us Your perfect will for Gateway Church.

Day 37, November 16 -- There is none like You, oh Lord. You created us, "You chose us in Christ before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in Your sight." (Ephesians 1:4) There are many others, Lord, who need to hear this message... the children, their parents, their grandparents. You work in such wondrous ways, please show us Your direction for Gateway.

Day 38, November 17 -- My Lord and my God, I kneel before You. I acknowledge that You know all things, that Your wisdom is infinite. You have said that if any of us lacks wisdom, we should ask You, the Most Holy God, and that You give generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to us. (James 1:5) We do ask for wisdom as we proceed with this new project for the children. Thank You, oh Lord.

Day 39, November 18 -- Dear Jesus, we thank You for Your faithfulness, for Your grace, for Your mercy. Holy Spirit, You tell us that "It is God Who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill His good purpose." (Philippians 2:13) Today we pray for Your will and purpose to be done at Gateway Church as we prepare to enlarge the space for our GCM and EduCare.

Day 40, November 19 -- "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain." (Psalm 127:1) Dearest Lord, today on this last day of our 40 days of prayer, we again surrender to You, and acknowledge that You are in control. We cannot move forward on any plans for this church without You. Thank You for all that You are doing here, all that You have done for us in the past, and all that You will do in our future days. Amen.
